Steel Grating (Floor Grating)

Overview

Steel grating is the workhorse of industrial flooring: strong, open, self-draining and quick to install. We build both serrated grating — for maximum slip resistance on ramps and oily walkways — and flat-top grating for comfort under foot on platforms and mezzanine decks. Panels are produced to your exact bearing-bar spacing, cross-bar pitch and overall dimensions, then hot-dip galvanized in our 27 ft kettle.

Because we control fabrication and dipping under one roof, there are no bare cut edges, no weld spatter left uncoated and no third-party handling damage. Every panel is dipped after welding so the zinc seals the cut ends and welds — the exact places where corrosion starts on cheaper pre-galvanized or painted grating.

Specifications & Sizes

• Bearing bars from 25 mm to 75 mm depth, 3–6 mm thickness
• Bar spacing on 30 / 40 / 60 mm centres to match load class
• Serrated (anti-slip) or flat-top profiles; plain or with edge banding
• Panel lengths and widths cut exactly to your drawings — sections up to 27 ft in one dip
• MS or pre-galvanized raw stock; finished coating 85–120 µm per ASTM A123
• Optional powder-coat over galvanizing for duplex protection

Galvanizing Process Notes

Grating is cut, welded and framed in our fabrication bay, then rigged for dipping. We angle panels so molten zinc drains freely and no air pockets form between bars. After dipping, each panel is inspected for coating thickness with magnetic gauges per ASTM E376 — test records go out with every dispatch.
