04 — Process

The 6-Stage Galvanizing Lifecycle

Select a stage to see what happens to your steel at each step.

1. Degreasing & Alkali Rinse

Steel is cleaned in a hot alkaline bath to remove oils, grease and shop dirt. A clean surface is essential — any contamination here shows up as bare patches in the finished zinc coating. Parts are then rinsed to remove residual alkali before pickling.

09 — FAQ

Galvanizing Questions — Answered

Straight answers on pricing, turnaround, standards and what you can send us.

What is hot-dip galvanizing?

Hot-dip galvanizing immerses prepared steel in a molten zinc bath at ~450°C, creating a metallurgically bonded zinc coating (typically 85–120 µm) that protects against corrosion for decades. It is the world's most widely used corrosion protection for structural steel.

How much does hot-dip galvanizing cost in Pakistan?

Galvanizing is priced per kg and varies by section size, surface condition and order quantity. Our current rate ranges from PKR 180–300 per kg; for quantities above 20 tons, the minimum rate is PKR 180 per kg. Thin sections carry more surface area per kg, so they sit at the upper end of the range. Send your item list and tonnage for an exact same-day quote.

What is the maximum steel length you can galvanize?

Our kettle accepts sections up to 27 ft (8.2 m) in a single dip — no splices. Longer assemblies can be designed in two pieces and bolted after dipping.

How long does galvanizing take?

Standard galvanizing jobs are completed in 24–48 hours after receipt. Fabrication plus galvanizing turnkey packages typically run 1–3 weeks depending on complexity.

Do you fabricate steel before galvanizing?

Yes. CAD detailing, CNC plasma cutting, certified MIG/TIG/arc welding, trial assembly and then hot-dip galvanizing — the full cycle is done in-house under one roof.

Which standards do you certify to?

ASTM A123 and BS EN ISO 1461 for zinc coatings, ASTM A153 for hardware and fasteners, and ASTM E376 for coating thickness measurement. Test certificates are issued with every dispatch.

Can you re-galvanize existing or rusty steel?

Yes. We sandblast existing steel to SA 2.5, re-galvanize it, and touch up damaged coatings. We also service and repair galvanized structures in the field.

Do you deliver outside Karachi?

Yes. We arrange transport across Pakistan — including Lahore, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur and all major industrial zones.
